Our Mission

The Midge Costanza Institute for Politics and Public Policy's mission is to advance the study of the Office of the President with specific focus on the role of presidential advisors within an administration. The Institute further intends to foster the study of social movements, and how social movements engage the political process to both create and change public policy.
The Institute will accomplish this mission by creating collaborative programs and community partnerships that promote intellectual investigation into the focus areas of the Institute.
The Institute will create a digital archive, which includes documents from Midge Costanza's tenure in the White House, along with many artifacts from key political campaigns and a host of other historical treasures.
The Institute is nonpartisan, however, it will advocate the continual study of current events through its news updates. It will sponsor open forums to discuss current events and key issues of all branches of government.

The Institute is incorporated as a California nonprofit benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person. The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, literary and educational purposes within the meaning of the Internal Revenue Code section 501(c) 3. The corporation is formed, and shall be operated, exclusively to support San Diego State University, in San Diego, California and/or any other educational institution that is an organization described in Sections 170(b)(1 )(A), 501 (c)3, and 501 (a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.
